3/29/09:  JOLLY, the first low budget feature-length movie produced by my production company, small or LARGE Productions, will be screened at the Sarasota Fringe Festival on Friday, April 3, 2009, at 12 noon.

All Fringe Fest movies will be screened at The Rustic Grill, 400 North Lemon, in downtown Sarasota.  Admission is $5.00

Scroll down to news from 2/24/09 for more information about the movie, or view our trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtbkjzllOBE

3/7/09:  THE UNSUNG HERO, Troubleshooters series book # 1, is finally available in hardcover from Headline Books, published in the UK!

All of the book in the Troubleshooters series have had a hardcover edition -- with the exception of THE UNSUNG HERO.  Even the earlier books in the series -- THE DEFIANT HERO, OVER THE EDGE and OUT OF CONTROL -- had hardcover bookclub editions printed.  INTO THE FIRE had a special hardcover library edition.  And all of the books after that came out in a hardcover original.

But not THE UNSUNG HERO.  This book's large print edition wasn't even hardcover -- it was a trade paperback.

But now, all fifteen of the Troubleshooters series books are going to be published by Headline books, a publisher in the United Kingdom.  Most of the editions are going to be paperback, but the editors there have chosen to print a special hardcover edition of THE UNSUNG HERO, available on May 14, 2009.

This is a big heads up for all of you hardcover book collectors who have emailed me through the years, hoping to find a hardcover version of this first book in the Troubleshooters series!

Unfortunately, you won't be able to walk into your local bookstore and pick up a copy.  (Unless, of course, your local bookstore is in London!)  (Ooh, what a good reason to plan that trip to the UK!)  But short of a flight across the "pond," American readers who are looking for a hardcover edition of this book CAN order one through the magic of the internet.  In fact, pre-orders are available right now via www.amazon.co.uk.  (Search for "THE UNSUNG HERO hardcover" and you will find the hardcover edition of this book, published by Headline books.)

2/24/09:  THE KISSING GAME is in bookstores today!  Reissued from Bantam Books, it's the second book in my Sunrise Key Trilogy of romantic comedies (Book 1 is KISS & TELL, book 3 is OTHERWISE ENGAGED, which will be in stores on July 28, 2009).

ALSO -- The cover art for HOT PURSUIT, Troubleshooters series book # 15, has gone up on my website.  Check it out!

AND -- My production company, small or LARGE Productions, has completed our first indie movie!  It's a Christmas movie called JOLLY, starring Eric Ruben, Jason T. Gaffney, Leslie Woodies, Sylvia Batey, Dan Bolton and Apolonia Davalos (among others!).  I'm in the movie, too -- I play "Woman on Beach."  (A small but important role! <g>)

JOLLY is a mockumentary/comedy, designed to have the feel of both reality TV and a student film.  It was shot with a low budget and a tiny crew (camera, sound and lights) over the course of seventeen hectic days.    (Click HERE for photos from JOLLY!)

Here's the synopsis, posted on our imdb page:

JOLLY:  Andy Silverman, a forty-seven-year old Jewish man, is having the worst holiday season of his life. His best friend is dead, his business has collapsed, he is undergoing chemotherapy, and his overprotective sister has convinced a court to give her complete control over Andy's disappearing finances. Depressed and resentful, Andy is reduced to merely getting through the weekly cancer treatments that leave him weakened and sick. So when he is approached by his one remaining friend to pretend to be Santa Claus for the sake of a little girl named Mikaela, Andy emphatically refuses. But then Andy meets Mikaela, and suddenly, his life takes an unexpected turn for the better.

We're entering it in a bunch of festivals, across the U.S.  -- I'll keep you posted if we get selected to be part of any of them.

We've posted a trailer at YouTube -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtbkjzllOBE  -- the awesome soundtrack to the movie was done by the incredibly talented Jack Gravina.  See if you can't catch a glimpse of me around 1:05, in the trailer...

2/19/09:  Misprint update:  Did you buy one of the misprinted copies of DARK OF NIGHT, despite the publisher's recall of these books?

Apparently, despite the publisher's best efforts and intentions, quite a few misprinted books were distributed, put onto bookstore shelves, and sold.  (My sincere apologies for this entire SNAFU!  I swear to you, when I wrote the book, the pages were in the correct order!)

It's also come to my attention that some readers have been having quite a difficult time, attempting to exchange their misprinted books for a correctly printed copy.  (Some stores STILL haven't returned their books for the reprinted ones.  AND I've recently found out that some books have a misprinting error on completely different pages.  Ack.)

If you bought a misprinted DARK OF NIGHT, and have been unable to exchange it at your local store for a correctly printed copy, please email me at SuzanneBrockmann@aol.com with the following information:

  1. Your name and mailing address
  2. The name of the store and location (city and state) where you purchased the misprinted book
  3. The date you purchased the book
  4. The page number where the printing error starts

I'll forward your email to my publisher, and we'll send you a correctly printed copy of DARK OF NIGHT.

Again, I'm extremely sorry about this -- and Ballantine is, too.

1/28/09:  Misadventures in misprinting!

Here's the deal, gang.  There was, apparently, a little accident at the printers, and some of the copies of DARK OF NIGHT were misprinted.  I've seen a copy of the misprint -- it was wild.  Page 122 followed 119, then came 121, then 120, then 125, 124, then 123, and so on, all the way to 182.  After that, the pages are back in order.  All of the pages are there, they're just out of order.  It's kind of both a book and a game.  ggg.  Or a test to see if you're paying attention.

ANYWAY... my brilliant publisher caught the problem weeks ago, and recalled all the misprinted books, printed a brand new batch and already shipped 'em out to the book stores.  (This happens more often than one would think, and usually isn't caught until some puzzled reader points it out!  So kudos to Ballantine for catching it early!)

But the powers that be also thought it might be smart to put the word out there, particularly among those of you who have been waiting... so... long... for this installment in the Troubleshooters series.  We thought it might be a good idea, just in case a store or two ignores the recall, for you to check your book before you leave for home.  Just a quick peek to make sure that page 120 follows 119.  If it does, you're golden and good to go -- the book is printed perfectly.  If not, do me a huge-large and bring it to the attention of your bookseller.

And, if you've purchased a misprinted book, please return it to the bookseller where you purchased it.  They'll make sure you get a new, correctly printed copy.

1/24/09:  The virtual signing for DARK OF NIGHT is officially closed!  (Thanks to all who ordered books.)  I'm currently in the process of signing and/or personalizing all the books that were ordered, doing batches of about 100 at a time.  (Around book 90, my hand starts getting a little tired...)

Everyone who ordered books, please be patient as you wait for your book to arrive.

All books WILL BE shipped on January 27, 2009.  Guaranteed.

bulletIf you paid for media mail shipping, please allow 5 - 10 business days, after January 27th, for your book to arrive.
bulletIf you paid for priority shipping, please allow 2 - 3 business days, after January 27th, for your book to arrive.
bulletIf you paid for international shipping, please allow reasonable time for delivery.  (It really does vary.  Sorry to have to be so vague...)
bulletIf you paid for overnight shipping, you will get your book by January 28th, come hell or high water!   (Please email me at SuzanneBrockmann@aol.com at end of business on January 28th if your overnight book hasn't arrived.)

Thank you!

12/07/08:  The virtual signing for Troubleshooters book # 14, DARK OF NIGHT, is now open!

11/25/08:  Wow, long time, no update!  The good news is that I've spent all that time between July and now finishing DARK OF NIGHT and getting it all shined up for its January 27, 2009 release date!

I've also been working on a screenplay version of my time travel romance, TIME ENOUGH FOR LOVE.  (Hopefully I'll have news about that in the near future.)

I also spent a coupla weeks this past summer directing an Equity staged reading of a play that I wrote with Ed, called LOOKING FOR BILLY HAINES.  That was fun.  We hope to do a showcase in New York (and various other places) in the near future.

Watch for my new (and significantly improved) virtual signing for DARK OF NIGHT, coming soon!

Oh yeah, and I just posted an excerpt -- the entire prologue -- for DARK OF NIGHT.

And ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT -- the story of Jules Cassidy and Robin Chadwick's wedding -- is in bookstores today, in paperback!

Happy Thanksgiving!

4/26/08:  I've finally added the cover blurb for the 13th installment in my Troubleshooters series, INTO THE FIRE, to my home page, updated my FAQ page and my appearances page  (About time!)  My excuse is that I've been writing, writing, writing!

I've got another exclusive short story and writing workshop (Tall, Dark & Believable:  Writing compelling romance heroes) coming out in my FREE Into the Fire Extras booklet, which will be available at the Romance Writers National Conference in San Francisco in July, through my virtual signing for Into the Fire, and via an internet PDF download.

I'm on the verge of starting to write Troubleshooters book number 14, working title Dark of Night.  This book is something a little different for me -- it's more closely connected to the previous book in the series, Into the Fire -- in fact, the action in Dark of Night begins on the very day that Into the Fire ends.  I'm going to be writing that book over the summer (I won't be doing any touring for Into the Fire  so that I can use the time to write), and we hope Dark of Night will have a February 2009 release date.  (Stay tuned for updates!)

The other big news is that my plan is to have a second release in 2009.  An as yet unnamed sixteenth installment in my Troubleshooters series will feature reader favorites Sam & Alyssa -- and the return of a certain serial killer known as "the Dentist" that Alyssa has been after for years.  We're all hoping that this book will have an August 09 release.  (Again, watch my website for updates!)

10/30/07:  ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT is in bookstores today!
