Jason's Giant Pumpkin
A story in pictures.
Several years ago, my son Jason correctly guessed the weight of a giant pumpkin at a farm stand near his school -- and won... the pumpkin, of course.
The question was asked "What did he do with the pumpkin?"
Well, first, he brought it home... Which was no small feat!
Fortunately, at the time, we had a Toyota RAV4 (like a mini SUV) that was capable of transporting it! Thinking ahead, we brought an old sheet with us, to use as a sling to lift the enormously heavy and impossibly slippery thing. (Giant pumpkins don't come with handles or corners to grip!)
At the time, we were living in a house that was a former (converted!) chicken coop. It was a very cool house -- long and skinny, with original wide board pine floors in some rooms, and with the main living area up on the second floor. (I had to put down the camera to help haul the pumpkin up the last of the stairs!)
