Note from Suz:  Once again, it's Tuesday, and Tuesday is Excerpt Day!  I've got another short excerpt for you from Flashpoint.  Remember:  For those of you who don't want to read an excerpt, I've put many lines of buffer (aka spoiler buffer <g>) between the answers to Trivia Quiz #3 and the excerpt, which is down below!

First things first -- the winners and the answers to the trivia quiz!

The winner of Trivia Quiz # 3: Couples (from the TS/Team Sixteen series) is:

Robbie answered all eight questions correctly, as well as came closest to the tie-breaker number!  (Once again, it came down to the tie-breaker -- so many people answered correctly!)  Congratulations, Robbie!

Answers to Trivia Quiz # 3

  1. What couple met before college? Tom & Kelly  (Although I don't state exactly when they met, Tom's uncle lived in a cottage on Kelly's father's estate, and had surely met when both were quite young.  It is stated, however, that they became friends during high school.  Kenny & Savannah, however, met while they were in college -- Savannah attended Yale with Kenny's then girl-friend, Adele.)
  2. What couple has become parents? Nils & Meg are the only ones brave enough -- so far!
  3. What couple did Tom Paoletti predict would be married before he was? Stan & Teri
  4. What couple waited the longest time between their first kiss and the first time they were intimate? Tom & Kelly shared their first kiss while in high school, then went their separate ways.  It was years and years before they connected again.
  5. What couple waited the shortest time? Sam & Alyssa win that prize!   (Lots of people said Ken & Savannah, who actually shared their first kiss in Kenny's swimming pool, and then managed to eat dinner on his patio before taking it inside.  Sam and Alyssa were not that reserved <g>.  Or hungry?)
  6. Which three couples had at least one partner concerned about their age differences? Stan & Teri, Nils & Meg, Mike & Joan  (And if you said Max & Gina, we'll accept that, too.)
  7. Which two couples were not described making love in a hotel or motel room? Tom & Kelly, Ken & Savannah
  8. What couple survived a significant deception played by one partner on the other, during their first meeting? Nils & Meg  (Ken & Savannah is incorrect, because although Savannah deceived Kenny because she got in over her head when she came face to face with him after getting that flat tire, this was not their first meeting.  They met years earlier, in college!)
  9. What couple did not have to deal with the fact that they lived on opposite coasts of the U.S.?  Stan & Teri  (We'll accept Max and Gina as correct, too.)
  10. Pick a number between 100 and 200. 119

As they drew closer to the door leading out into the lobby, Nash held up his hand. Stop. His light went off, too, since the door was ajar and the dim twilight from the lobby windows came in through the crack.

He looked back at Deck, who nodded. Yeah, he'd noticed it, too. It wasn't so much that he'd heard something as felt it.

A microscopic change in atmospheric pressure due to additional bodies within an enclosed space.

The invisible, soundless wake that continued to disrupt the air molecules long after someone had stopped moving.

An electrical current that came from another living being.

Or lots of other living beings.

Nash already had his sidearm out and held at ready.

And then they heard it. Snick.

Most people, even when trying to be silent, just couldn't hold completely still for very long.

There was definitely someone out there.

Again, a snick, followed by an absolute rustle.

Deck signaled to Nash -- slowly, carefully, so as to disturb as few oxygen molecules as possible. Fall back.

They went up the stairs, touching as little of the steps with the soles of their shoes as humanly possible.

They had barely gone a half a floor when it happened.

Decker gave Nash a what the fuck look, but then instantly realized what was happening.

Aftershock.
