Note from Suz: It's time for our weekly trivia quiz...
But first -- a newsflash:
Actually, three newsflashes!
First, thank you to all who sent in questions for the interview! I'll be posting my replies to some of them on Monday, March 22nd. I'm so sorry I can't answer them all right now -- I got so many really thoughtful, interesting questions! And actually, I'm going to keep them, and answer them after this mad rush of prep for the tour (and oh, yeah, I'm supposed to be writing HOT TARGET...) is over. Hey, maybe I'll use them for the countdown to HOT TARGET. That's going to be upon us before we know it. <g>
Second, did I say Monday, March 22nd? Because that's also the date that I've got a on-line chat scheduled at that mother of all excellent websites (and I mean that in a good way!), Writerspace.com. I'll be chatting in their ginormous chat room from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time. That's 6 to 8 p.m. for you surfers out on the west coast, and the middle of the night for Marianne and her Mr. Coffee in Ireland. As for your Aussies, God only knows what DAY it will be, let alone time. (Yesterday? Tomorrow? Help! YOU get to figure it out!)
I'm giving you this info about the chat in advance, since if you've never chatted at Writerspace before, you should go on over there and register for a screenname in advance. It can take a little bit of time to do that, so 8:57 on Monday night might not be the way to go. It's free, it's easy, but it involves an exchange of information like email address.
Last but not least (and remember after this third newsflash, we've got Trivia Quiz # 3, so don't go away!)...
I'm "adopting" a Marine unit stationed in Iraq!
My friend Josh is a Marine Corps captain and helo pilot and he's graciously agreed to distribute any books and other small gifts that I send his way, to the men and women in his unit.
So... I'm going to send a package to him for his Marines from every city on my upcoming FLASHPOINT book signing tour ! Readers who live along this route can help, too, by donating used (or new!) books, games, magazines or other small, inexpensive items -- or even just a thank you note or card! (Click here for a list of items that the Marines stationed in Iraq could really use!) We'll be sending a homemade greeting card from each city or town, and readers who come to my book signings can sign it as well! (How about that? A book signing where I ask for your autograph! <g>)
I'll have a box (or two!) available at each of my book signings for readers who wish to participate. Just bring along your donation and add it to our box! We'll pack the box(es) up right there at the store. (Volunteers to help us pack the box(es) are appreciated as well! <g> And volunteers who can tell us the location of the nearest Post Office will also be given a high five!) Whether we agree or disagree about the current administration's reasons for invading Iraq (and isn't it great that we live in America, where the freedom to disagree is just one of many wonderful freedoms we share?) the bottom line is that our servicemen and women are over there, and I think we can all agree that they deserve our support.
A couple of things: 1) Please don't add any homemade food items to our boxes. The Marines have been told to throw away any food items that aren't factory sealed, unless they come from a known family member. 2) Please attach a small note to your donation that includes your email address so the recipient can have an opportunity to send a quick thanks!
Readers who don't live in the tour area can participate in spirit by going to www.booksforsoldiers.com !
Okay, now for our third and final Trivia Quiz!
TRIVIA QUIZ # 3:
Couples
(from the Troubleshooters/Team Sixteen series)
There is one Grand Prize for Trivia Quiz # 1 -- a signed audiobook of The Unsung Hero.
We'll be using the exact same rules that we used for the first two trivia quizzes:
1) Participants must email their numbered answers (no downloads, please!) to my special trivia quiz email address: BrockmannS@aol.com (NOTE: This is different than my regular email address!!!) Entries must BE RECEIVED by 10:00 a.m. ET, Monday, March 22nd, 2004 at this email address only. (NOTE: Go, go, go! <g> The clock is running!) We are not responsible for entries that were not received due to cyberspace SNAFUs or delays, or entries sent to a different email address.
2) The final "trivia" question is "Pick a number from 100 to 200." This question will be used if more than one entry gets all the real trivia questions correct. (And I expect that to be the case, cuz you guys are smart! See, there's only one Grand Prize, and if 300 people answer all of the questions correctly... well, you see why we have to do this!) If no one picks the exact number for the final question, the winner will be the person who has chosen the closest number. If two people surround the winning number, the winner will be the next highest number. (Example: Say I've picked 189 as the winning number, and none of the entrants select 189, but someone chooses 188 and some one chooses 190. 190 wins. Okay?) (I just want to make this clear from the start so there are no hurt feelings and no cries of "No fair!") If six people all choose the winning number, then we will have a drawing for the Grand Prize -- I'll put all six names into a hat, close my eyes and pick one. The other five will get an honorable mention listing here on my website!
3) The Grand Prize Winner of Trivia Quiz # 3 will be announced on the countdown page for March 23rd!
4) Winner must provide a snail mailing address to receive the Grand Prize via snail mail!
5) Only one entry per person/email address, please!
Ready?

See you tomorrow!
