Virtual Signing

Note from Suz:  Every time a new hardcover comes out, I set up a "virtual signing" so that even readers who live far from my tour route can get a signed copy of the new book.  You can get one that's just signed (with my name) or personalized (with your name, a brief message and my signature.)

We've had a pretty good response for our virtual signing throughout the years -- in fact, each time we hold one, the number of ordered books increases.  Last year, on August 15th, I signed, packaged and we shipped 454 copies of INTO THE STORM.

For the record, 454 books are a lot of books.  They come twelve to a box.  And because we know that many of the people who order signed books are collectors, we take care to package the books carefully in bubblepack envelopes, which come 70 to a box.  That's a lot of boxes.  (I'll let you do the math. <g>)   (Above:  I am in the rubble of empty boxes in my kitchen, post-virtual-signing for INTO THE STORM.)

Once the books go into the bubblepack envelopes, they take up even MORE room, which is a challenge!  And Ed and Eric became best friends with the gang at the local post office, getting all those copies of INTO THE STORM sent on their way...

(Above:  Boxes of books, and boxes of packaged books, and books on the table -- ready to be signed!)

I'm wearing workout-gear in these photos, but it was Ed and Eric who got the real workout that day -- hauling boxes of books home from the bookstore, and then schlepping the bubble-pack-envelopes filled with books over to the post office.  (We warn our post office weeks in advance, and they actually prepare for us!)

This year we're expecting around 800 virtual signing orders, so we're negotiating with the bookstore, trying to get the books a day or two early.  We won't send 'em out early -- we'll just sign and package 'em.  (Don't want to break any on-sale date rules!!!)  But we want to make sure that you-the-reader gets your signed book as close as possible to the actual release date.

(Above:  Each book is signed, packaged and given a hug before being sent on its way!)

Truly, the virtual signing is a huge amount of fun.  Friends come over to help out, my parents do, too!  There's much laughter and excitement -- there's no better way, IMO, to spend the official release date of a book!

There's still time to participate in the FORCE OF NATURE virtual signing.  If you order before August 12th, you'll get a free upgrade to priority shipping, and be guaranteed a free signed copy of my FORCE OF NATURE Extras booklet!  We're taking orders by PayPal this year, which makes ordering a signed book easier than ever!

(Above:  Book # 454.  Now I must shower and change -- to get ready to go to... the booksigning at the Burlington, Massachusetts Barnes & Nobel! LOL!)

Watch for my virtual signing for ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, my first-ever Troubleshooters Holiday Novella, here on my website in early September.  (ATTN's release date is October 30, 2007 -- just mere months after FORCE OF NATURE's release!)
