Note from Suz:  Welcome to the first countdown page for FORCE OF NATURE.  Join me here on my website each Monday through Friday as we count down the days to the book's August 14th  release.

I've got some fun things planned for this countdown!  I have pictures from last year's virtual signing, the usual excerpt from the book, a day-long BB visit, and, of course, my detailed recounting of my Friday, July 27th charity-auction-winning-prize Dinner with Joss Whedon.  (Be patient, Whedonesquers.  I'm taking my time writing my account of my time with The Man.  My hope is to make it so detailed and vivid, you will think you were there!)  (Watch for my Joss Report on Tuesday, August 7th!)  (And by the way?  I just finished it, and it's 20 pages long.  LOL!)

For part of this year's countdown, we're gonna YouTube ya!  

A few weeks ago, retired Navy SEAL LT CMDR Tom Rancich stayed in one place long enough for me to bring in a coupla digital camcorders and get some extremely entertaining footage of him talking about his experiences in the SEAL Teams.  I'll have that for you here on the Countdown to FON.  

I've been having fun editing that footage.  I've been telling people I'm going to give up my career as a writer and become a video editor -- JUST KIDDING!  It has been fun, though.  Of course Tom's a great guy and a terrific storyteller -- it's not as if it's hard work to edit the video we shot!

I'll be telling the story of how I first met Tom during a special guest blog on Michelle Buonfiglio's  lifetime.com's romance blogger site, but that's not coming until August 15th.  At least I think it'll be on August 15th.  Stay tuned to the countdown for more details as to the exact date of that blog.  (But do plan to drop by her website, because it's going to be a fun one!)

Another feature for this year's countdown -- a contest, with a chance to win a Tall, Dark & Dangerous Navy SEAL five-pack:  EVERYDAY, AVERAGE JONES; IDENTITY: UNKNOWN; GET LUCKY; TAYLOR'S TEMPTATION and NIGHT WATCH.  That contest's coming at you (again via YouTube) on Monday, August 6, 2007, with a Tuesday-at-midnight deadline, so get ready....

(Note to panicked readers who don't have computers new enough to access YouTube.  I'll also post a version of the contest on my website in a non-YouTube-able format, so you'll be able to play, too.) 

For years I've started every single countdown the exact same way -- with an official "Cast of Characters" list from the upcoming book.

But you know what?  This year, I'm going to shake things up and start the FORCE OF NATURE Countdown differently.

Today's countdown feature is a link to Romance Novel TV.

While I was in Dallas last month for the Romance Writers of America conference, I had the pleasure of doing a video interview with the good folks over at Romance Novel TV.

Romance Novel TV is a cool website that presents short (around three minute) clips of interviews with romance novelists.  I first found out about them when I was doing research for an interview I did with one of my favorite authors, JR Ward.  

Tangent and Fan Grrl alert:  See, I was approached by RT BookClub Magazine to do an Author-interviews-Author piece with JR Ward who writes the amazing Brotherhood series of paranormals.  I.  Love.  Her.  Books.  And I've met her a number of times, so I knew it would be fun to interview her, so I immediately agreed.  But before the interview, I went to JR's website -- www.JRWard.com -- to prepare.  I didn't want to ask her the same ol' questions that everyone else had already asked her.  While I was over there, I saw a link to something called Romance Novel TV.  Of course, I clicked the link and...

Cool site.  Way, wicked cool site, as we say here in Boston.  They had lots of video clips of JR talking about her books.  They had clips showing her at a booksigning, doing a reader Q&A...  

The clips were all high quality, easy to hear -- just... great stuff.  

So I emailed the gang at Romance Novel TV, told 'em I was going to Dallas, and did they maybe want to set up a time to talk?  (They said yes!)

See, I was thinking that a video clip on Romance Novel TV would be a fun thing to feature for the FORCE OF NATURE countdown.  

Well.  They were friendly and laid-back -- interviewer Marisa put me immediately at ease.  Long story short, we met in Dallas and talked -- on tape -- for a good long time.  

I asked Marisa when they'd have their footage up and running on their site -- hoping it would be posted in time for this countdown.  Apparently they liked the idea of my featuring them on the FORCE OF NATURE Countdown, because...

Romance Novel TV is hosting their very own Countdown to FORCE OF NATURE!

Yes, you read that right.  Every Monday through Friday from now until the book comes out on August 14th, Romance Novel TV will be featuring a new clip from our Dallas interview.  (They rock!)

And I will have a link to their website, right at the very top of my own Countdown pages, to make it easier for you to find.  (But do come right back! <g>)
