Countdown to

Breaking Point

6/30/05

12 days (and counting to Breaking Point, in stores on July 12th)

Quote of the Day:

Jones turned and headed toward his plane.

"What are you doing?" Angie called after him.

"I'm getting Molly out of there."  He checked his arsenal of weapons, slipped on the flack jacket he'd taken in trade for a twenty pack of toilet paper about four years ago, and climbed into the Cessna.

Angie came running toward him.  "There's nowhere to land a plane on Badaruddin's island!"

"Then I guess I'll have to improvise."  With a roar, he taxied to the end of the strip and took off into the brilliant blue of the afternoon.

Note from Suz: Today, in an alarmingly exciting change of pace, instead of having a Trivia Quiz, we are going to have a different kind of contest!  (And yet we'll still give away a terrific prize:  a signed copy of one of the following hard-to-find, out-of-print Tall, Dark & Dangerous titles (winner's choice!): Taylor's Temptation, Get Lucky, The Admiral's Bride or Identity: Unknown.)

For today's contest, I'm putting you into the very capable hands of Ed and Eric:

For this contest, it’s time to go to Haiku-city!

Haiku is a style of poetry in which each poem consists of three lines, in the following form:

Line 1 – five syllables
Line 2 – seven syllables
Line 3 – five syllables

Your assignment is to compose and submit a haiku about Max and Gina.

Remember to follow the format described above.

Here are some examples of haiku verse about other characters from the Troubleshooter Series:  (Guess which ones Eric wrote!)

Molly
Red hair, hot body
She preaches to the natives
I take off my pants

Sam and Alyssa
Handcuffs and chocolate
New meaning for cracker spread
Worth the six-book wait

Kenny and Savannah
Jungle trek, no tears.
You are all heart -- tough as steel.
I love you a ten.

Tom and Kelly
He wants a marriage.
You are the perfect couple.
What’s the big hold up?

Some more rules:

1.  Only one haiku per entry, and only one entry per person, please.

2.  Submit your Max and Gina haiku by email to suzbrockmann@aol.com by Monday July 4th at 10:00 p.m. eastern time!

3.  The winner will be chosen by a panel of expert judges.

4.  Exceptional entries (as well as the winning entry) will be posted on the countdown page for July 6th.

5.  When you submit your entry, let us know how you want to be credited (or if you’d like to be anonymous) if we decide to post your haiku.

6.  Include your snail mail address with your entry, so we can mail you the prize if you win.

7.  The prize is the winner’s choice of one of the following books: THE ADMIRAL’S BRIDE, IDENTITY: UNKNOWN, GET LUCKY, or TAYLOR’S TEMPTATION.

That's all for now!  Be sure to come back for tomorrow's installment in the Countdown to Breaking Point!

See you tomorrow!
