Countdown to

ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT

10/26/07

Today is radio interview day!
At 1:00 p.m., central time, I'll be talking to John Jasumback, of the Mid-Continent Public Library in Kansas City, Missouri.   (For more info, see yesterday's countdown page!)

4 days
(and counting to ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, in stores on October 30, 2007)

Note from Suz:  Some of you may have noticed that I'm using a different "author photo" for All Through the Night, and indeed, I am.

This picture here on the left is the one you'll find on the back cover flap for this 12th installment of my Troubleshooters Series.

In it, I'm wearing an HRC "Talk about it" T-shirt.  HRC is the Human Rights Campaign, an organization that supports equal rights for all people, particularly those in the GLBT community.  (GLBT stands for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender.)

It's kinda hard to see the three symbols on the shirt, but the first is a quotation mark. (")  This represents talking.  Speaking up.

The symbol in the middle is the official logo of HRC -- a yellow equal sign on a blue square.  It represents equal rights.

The third symbol (also hard to see!) is an opening door.  This represents coming out of the closet.

Coming out isn't just for gay people anymore!  Straight allies need to start speaking up as well.  The concept of this T-shirt, and HRC's "talk about it" campaign, is to get people talking about what it means not just to be gay, but to be a friend or family member of someone who is gay.

My son, Jason, is gay.  He's out -- and I am, too.  Wherever I go, I let people know that I'm proud of him and that there's nothing wrong (and everything right!) with him being honest and open about who he is.

You can find out more about HRC at www.hrc.org

You can order a T-shirt just like mine (in blue, red or gray) (and support HRC!) at the HRC Store.

That's all for now!  Be sure to come back on Monday for the next installment in the
Countdown to ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT!

Note from Suz:  I'm going to try to post each new day's countdown page before noon eastern time.  Please be patient if I'm a little late...

See you tomorrow!
