November 28, 2010
Happy Thanksgiving!
This is it! The holidays are officially bearing down upon us with warp speed. And if you're at all like me, this means
that your e-mail in-box is filled, daily, with offers and advertisements from everyone and their little sister.
So I apologize for adding to that chaos, but this one's kinda fun, and it's got a December 6th deadline.
Still, I'm gonna make this short and sweet, and bullet-point the sitch for your reading ease...
1) I've got a new hardcover coming out next March. It's called BREAKING THE RULES, and it's Navy SEAL
Izzy Zanella's book, and the 16th and final (at least temporarily) installment in my long-running Troubleshooters
series. (And I've recently posted an excerpt from the book on my website, at www.SuzanneBrockmann.com)
2) I'm offering you, my dear readers, a chance to bid on the opportunity to give your name (or the name of a loved
one, provided you've got their permission!) to one of the characters in BREAKING THE RULES. It's all part of a
charity auction, held by Auction Cause on eBay to raise money for The First Amendment Project, an organization
that supports freedom of speech. (Freedom of speech is kind of a Big One for writers, as far as civil rights go...)
(And I know I don't mesh politically with ALL of my readers, but support of the Bill of Rights is surely something
we can all agree on!) Bottom line is this: you get to give money to a very good cause, AND be immortalized within
the pages of Izzy's book. Winner gets to choose between naming one of two already written characters, more
about that in a sec...
3) The auction is live NOW (Sunday, November 28th) and closes on December 6, 2010. (So act fast! And P.S.
having your name appear in a book makes a great gift! See note above re: rapid advance of holidays!)
4) The URL to the Auction Cause site is http://3.ly/fapauction
or
http://stores.ebay.com/Auction-Cause/First-Amendment-Project.html
Or you can reach the auction by going to
http://www.auctioncause.com/ and clicking the link to the First Amendment Project auction.
4) Here are the official details of my little segment of the auction:
Be a character in the Troubleshooters world!
Winner will have the choice of giving her/his name to one of two characters in BREAKING THE RULES,
Troubleshooters series book # 16, release date March 22, 2011 - and will be thanked for their support of the First
Amendment Project in the book's acknowledgment.
Choice of characters are:
a) a female stripper-with-a-heart-of-gold
Your name is mentioned several times, and you appear in a scene with a major character. You also get to select
your stripper name (feel free to use the classic formula: first childhood pet combined with the street where you
grew up. Mine would be Schnapsie Lombardi. Nice, huh?) Oh, and you need to know that you are described as
having "boobs the size of basketballs." I suspect they are not completely real, but only you know for sure.
b) a Las Vegas-based FBI agent (male or female)
Your name is mentioned once. You have an off-stage phone call that is recounted by my all-time most popular
character, gay FBI agent Jules Cassidy. Become an FBI agent without taking a single accounting class or setting
foot in Quantico!
Note: Winning bidder gets his/her choice of characters. Winner get a chance to correspond via email with the
author, but must be ready to do so immediately when the auction closes on December 6, 2010.
Also please note: This book is already written and includes quite a few recurring characters from this long-running
series. As realistic as it is in real life, it gets confusing to readers when a book contains characters who share the
same name. Please note that the following characters with unchangeable names already appear in Breaking the
Rules: Irving "Izzy" Zanella, Eden Gillman Zanella, Dan Gillman, Ben Gillman, Jennilyn "Jenn" LeMay, Jay Lopez,
Mark & Lindsey Jenkins, Neesha Shardae, Greg & Ivette Fortune, Sandy, Ron, Tom Paoletti.
5) So there you have it. There's some additional fine print over on the Auction Cause website.

Thank you so much for your time and attention!
Happy and merry everything, to everyone!
(And in case you missed it above, yes, I finally HAVE posted the excerpt to Izzy's book, BREAKING THE
RULES, on my website at www.SuzanneBrockmann.com)
